Day 1

We hit the road at 6am nice and early but not too early. Driving past Chicago turned out to be not so bad. We timed it right for the traffic! Taking route 80 is indeed a nice alternative with less tolls.

While my daughter Amanda drives I find out that my youngest, Sarah broke her hand. She was in a dangerous situation and broke her hand trying to open the door and get out of it. She tells me not to worry, others have lost their limbs. Nice thing to say to a worrying mom! She is one tough cookie and the navy was a good fit for her. I just pray every day for her safety and for her brother's.

I digress... Back to the road trip! One toll and Roland drives through it in the wrong lane and left with no choice but to not pay! Nice... First foo paw .....

As we drive through Iowa storms loom and farmland is all around us. Not much to see but crops and cows with an occasional sighting of horses.

We pass through an area of beautiful windmills in Iowa...finally we made it to Sioux Falls, SD! Tired we march over to the restaurant for dinner and come back to the hotel to crash. Nice room by the way. The upgraded me to a two room suite! No couch for Amanda! She gets a nice comfy bed.
