I am back to traveling weekly. Yesterday I would have complained about it but today I am sort of glad to be traveling again. It takes me out of my house and back into the beat of the work place and into the social world. The socialization is what I have been craving since bound at the home office with no travel.
So with that said, back to the fast paced world of travel. I love it really. There is an exception to this however, and that is the very rude and obnoxious travelers. Now I can be obnoxious myself when I have somewhere to go and there are slow butt lazy people in my way. BUT....there is the un-necessary rudeness I find from the male business travelers. I am seeing a pattern here and this is what it is....
Male
Business
Older than 65 years
These are the traits of the most common rudest traveler. Men my age, younger, or a bit older are more often than not, very kind and quite the gentlemen. It is those men that are often older who seem to forget any form of manners towards women let alone those that travel!! Oh gosh FORBID those that are business women and traveling with the elite class alongside them. I have been pushed, cut off in line, had news papers I was reaching for grabbed out of my hand, as well as blatant shoving dirty looks. I actually had an older gentleman once shove me aside knocking me into my seat when getting my suitcase from the over head bin. The nerve. No apology, no regard for me falling over into the chair...just a shove and off he went to stand in front of me and get off the plane BEFORE my sorry female butt.
I do not hold back on these rude people and tell them they are rude. One old man stopped (when he cut in front of me in line to board the plane) when I said now aren't you just the rude old man in a hurry?? He stopped looked me up and down and said "why yes I am " and carried on. Ha! One day these folks will need my help even if in passing....and I will say...well now its my turn to be rude and keep on walking!
Today an older gentleman grabbed my paper as I reached for it. I told him he was rude but his hearing aide was turned off or he just chose to ignore because he kept walking. Oh well. So it is life. And today I am going to smile and be happy and live it as though it very well may be my last. Why? I don't know really. I just woke up with that thought throbbing in my head....live it as though it is your last. So my walk is lighter, my head is higher, my smile is wide, and I told each one of my kids that I loved them very much and to have a beautiful day as I left for my trip to South Florida. Even though this man annoyed me taking my paper...its just a paper. Who cares? Try not to be rude when traveling....it may be your last travel and you would hate to be remembered as a rude person wouldn't you?
Have a nice day....
